OpenAI is rolling these models out across eligible ChatGPT Work, Codex and API surfaces, while consumer plan access, tools and limits vary by account. Built for complex end-to-end work, with staged access across eligible plans

GPT-6 Astra is designed for demanding end-to-end work across complex reasoning, coding, computer use, research and document creation. For users, the practical benefit is less time re-explaining context when a task spans long source material, many constraints or several tools. At launch on September 4, 2026, OpenAI rolled Astra out first to enterprises in the Trusted Access Program and said API plus ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise access would arrive over the following days. Go was not included in that announced Astra rollout. Actual availability, tools and quotas depend on the target account, workspace, region and OpenAI's current interface. Choose by workload: Go remains a lower-cost alternative for light chat, translation and writing; Plus is the usual starting point for daily study, office work, files and general coding; compare Pro only when Plus limits repeatedly interrupt valuable long tasks; choose Business for a shared workspace and member administration. A ChatGPT subscription does not guarantee immediate Astra access and does not include API usage.
